Ok, after a brief crying session I decided to give the tree another go. Thankfully it is a fake tree because I could just bend it back into shape after being thrown to the floor. A real tree would have been a disaster. It came out nice, but the “wheee I’m doing the christmas tree!!” feeling wasn’t there.
I must admit though, sitting here now with the tree lit up is kind of nice. I’ve tried taking a few pics but they keep coming out sort of blurry and crap. Not sure why.. I’m sure there is some setting in my camera for it but I can’t find it.
Christmas 2005 hasn’t been cancelled in the Soldaat household, and I’m sort of glad now. Although, Christmas clearly will never be what it once was, so I’m thinking maybe I need to make up my own holiday to replace Christmas. I still needs to involve a Christmas tree and lots of Turkey though. Sort of like Seth on The O.C. and Christmakuh, his childhood invention that combines the traditions of both sides of his family.
What could I call it.. Christma-??- The name, the name.. the pressure of a name! (Who can remember what movie that comes from?)*
That, along with getting my quilting blocks for the week finished, will be my mission for this holiday season. To rename and recreate Christmas to suit my surroundings..
Christmaaaaaa…. shit, I have absolutely no ideas.
* I’ll give you a hint. “Cinda-Fuckin-Rella!!!”
