For the last number of years I’ve been dying to visit the Christmas markets in Germany. Since my husband was never too keen, it never really happened. This year I was talking to my friend Penny about it and we decided to book a trip for the two of us to go. On December 13th we are going to Cologne!
It was surprisingly cheap, only €25 to get the bus to Cologne and back. It drops us off at the market in the morning and picks us up again in the evening. It’s a special bus excursion for the Christmas Market from D-Reizen.nl that has various pick up spots all over the Netherlands.
I’m so friggin excited!! Apparently there are a number of markets throughout the city, with a little market train that takes you from one to the other. It’s going to be a lot of walking and REALLY crowded because we are going on a Satuday, but I don’t care… I’ll be too excited to care… or at least I hope I will.
Xander couldn’t be happier. I’m not sure if it’s because he’s happy for me that I am getting to go, or that he’s so relieved that he doesn’t have to.
Less than a month to go! I can’t wait!!!
omg, sooo jealous! B was planning to take me this year. He was there last year for a minature train show. Have a great time and spend a fortune for me!

Cologne is so beautiful, I am so jealous to get to visit the Christmas market. We’re having a similar style market here in Salt Lake City, but it isn’t quite the same!

Ooo, yes, the Christmas markets are such wonderful sparkly fun! I buy two Christmas tree ornaments there every year (one for each son), and it’s one my favorite parts of the season. Have a great time!

I have really fond memories of the Christmas markets in Cologne, drinking gluhwein and eating German hot dogs. Excellent Christmas atmosphere, from what I remember, and since then I did make it back once more.
