April doet wat hij wil is a saying about the spring weather in the Netherlands. It means “April does what it wants”, and boy does it! A lot of people get irritated by not knowing what the weather will be like from one moment to the next, but I like it. We go from days of 20-25 degree sunny weather, to 10-15 degrees and rain. For me, that means there is always a break from the warm weather and we still get the odd cozy rainy day. That makes me happy.
I took the above photo this morning from our balcony. Our house being the only one with the balcony door still open, while all our neighbours close everything up tight. I don’t really mind the rainy weather at this time of year. Everything looks so much more beautiful after the rain. The greens are more green, the flowers look even more spectacular as they bloom and everything smells so lovely.
This weekend I am going to the Keukenhof with my photography club. I’ve haven’t been there for a few years now and I’m quite eager to test out the new camera in such a beautiful environment. Thousands upon thousands of fresh flowers… tulips galore! It’s going to be great!
Aaaah, I love spring in the Netherlands. I really do!
Keukenhof? Seriously! You are going to be virtually in my back yard! I live 2 mins from there!!! Have fun, girl!
DutchBitchs last blog post… House… before House…
We always have our windows open..even in the winter and I notice all the dutch people we know keep everything locked up all the time. I’ve enjoyed this beautiful weather but like you I also like the break in it aswell. I need more sun though..more sun, ease up on the muggy weather,do away with the mosquitos and all would be good here..lol
Have fun at the Keukenhof!
Sonyas last blog post… Happy Easter!
My balcony door is open too. Really noticed the warmer temperatures teaching exercise classes this week so I also welcome the cooler breaks. It’s gonna be a killer mid Summer. We have aircon in the studio but it still gets real warm, I’ve had an overheat headache for two days!
Have fun at the Keukenhof.
I don’t find the spring rains to be nearly as nasty and dreary as the fall and winter rains. And it’s good for my flowers! LOL Hopefully the weather will hold out for y’all at Keukenhof!
