.. You take them both and then you have the Facts of Life!
My god how I loved this show when I was younger. Edna and her girls, all so different from each other, which looking back makes sense since every young girl could relate to at least one of them. Basically the story was that Edna ran a boarding house for girls and pretty much raised them. They were all neglected by their own parents, and were sent to live with Edna while they were in school. The main girls were:
Blair: The snobby blond
Natalie: The chubby but funny chick
Jo: The tomboy
Tootie: The black girl
There were other girls along the way but these four were there for the long haul. Even Molly Ringwald was in the show for a short while. Also George Clooney and MacKenzie Astin (Brother of Sean Astin, from Lord of the Rings) made their starts there.
It was just your typical show about teenage girls growing up, but it was so different back then. The drama was so less, dramatic.. it was so much more simple than the TV shows of today are. I wish my kids would get the chance to grow up on shows like this, rather than the OC’s and One Tree Hill’s of today.
If you grew up watching this show, then the should bring you back in time too.
Maybe one day the Dutch will get their hands on this show and start showing re-runs. I mean they show ALF and V, anything is possible!
Loved! that show growing up. Of course, I love The OC now, but I’m not sure I’d ever let my kids watch it. Facts of Life was the best at the “very special episode.” :)
