Yesterday I went to the Rotterdam Zoo (Diergaarde Blijdorp) with my three friends Lynda (right), Paule (left) and Simone (middle). It was a beautiful day with temps in the low 20’s and we had such a wonderful time.
Lynda is leaving us on the 24th when she moves back to the UK to live. So we’re getting in as much time with her as we can before she goes.
Here are some examples of the loads of pics I took while I was there:
I just picked out my favorites but you can see the rest of the photos here.
The highlight of the day was the elephants. When we came into the elephant area there was a crowd of people gathered and I figured it was just the place with the best view. When we got closer I realized that there was an elephant playing in a pond of water in front of the crowd.
This is my favorite photo of him. It makes you wonder what is going through his head. He really looks like he is having a fantastic time… or like someone just told him a really funny joke.
One day I’m going to find this photo online with “LOL” photoshopped onto it so some geek can use it on a forum.
I also got some video of him. You’ll have to forgive my blabbering though! The girls were talking and I kept replying to them and forgetting there was a camera in front of my face. Oh well, at least those of you I’ve never met know what I sound like now!
It really was more exciting to see it for real, he was so close to us. I think if he’d reached out his trunk I could have touched it.
Another highlight of the day yesterday was Lynda’s daughter Iona.
She is pretty much always a highlight of our outings because she is so darn cute and always so pleasant. I just love taking photos of her!
I think she loves getting her photo taken too because whenever you get the camera out she looks at you and does something adorable, but that could just be coincidence.
I’m going to miss this little one when she and her mom move back to the UK!
So that was my day yesterday! I couldn’t believe how warm it was… it’s like summer already! Today I am wearing shorts and a t-shirt, which I don’t remember EVER doing in April in Canada. All I am hearing from people back home at the moment is how much snow they are getting. *Snickers*

We’ll miss you too! We had a lovely day, Iona was so tired at bedtime! I even got a bit of a sun tan! Love the photos
