This week I’m playing Lord of the Rings Online. Xander has grown bored with World of Warcraft and bought LOTRO to try something different. It came with a 7 day free trial for a friend so I installed it on my laptop to arse around with it. It’s been a long time since I did any gaming of any kind and even after one day of this game it already feels like more of the same. Although there are a lot of aspects that are different, in the end it’s the same… quests, leveling, blah blah blah.
Will I end up playing it after the 7 day trial is over, it’s doubtful. Maybe I’ll like it more after playing for a week but at the moment it doesn’t really seem like anything to rave about.
BTW – i tried LOTR online.. i was a beta tester.. i had the same reaction as you did… same-shit-different-game… i didn’t bother to buy in…
Guild wars is still my favorite game for this kinda thing – cuz it’s free.
Another one you can look at (for a distraction) is Dungeon Runner — developed by NCSoft…
pretty good game — not as high end graphics – but it’s free to download and free to play… if you become a member for $5/mth – you get some goodies.. i decided to pay for 6 months..like i said -it’s a good destracton when all ya wanna do is hack-n-slash.. ;)
The community in the game is nice people too.. so all good.
