This weekend I have my husband home for an extra long weekend. He’s bored at work waiting for some hardware to arrive so he decided to take his last few holiday days from last year and make this a long weekend. He took a half day yesterday and is off today and Monday. One of the things he was looking forward to most was being able to sleep in.
This morning at 6:15am I was woken up by a bang. I had no idea what it was but it had to be loud since I sleep with earplugs in (thanks to my cats). I also knew that if it was loud enough to wake me it may wake Xander as well so I got up to investigate. After sitting in my livingroom for about 20 minutes listening to my crazy upstairs neighbour (yeah, the moron with the garbage) stomping, screaming, and banging… I’d had enough.
Up over the stairs I went, not even caring that I was still in my nightie. I banged on the door and heard ‘Rustig maar!!‘, which means relax/take it easy/calm down in Dutch. Imagine the nerve! Telling ME to be quiet when I’m awake because of THEIR noise! Pfft… I told them to keep it the fuck down that it wasn’t even 7am yet and I got a grunt in return. They did shut up though, thankfully. So I don’t have to deal with a grumpy hubby who didn’t get to sleep in.
I figure he’s probably upset at the sign someone put on the door downstairs. When Xander came in from driving our friends to the train station last night he told me that one of the neighbours had put a sign by the front door of the building saying ‘ Congratulations neighbours, we now have rats and mice thanks to people’s disgusting garbage downstairs’.
I’m sure he thinks we put it there but this time it actually wasn’t us, it was one of the many other people in the building who think he’s vile. I’ve poked around to the neighbours to try to find out who it was, so that maybe we could contact his rental company together and have something done about it but I’ve had no luck yet. Most of the rest of us in the building own our flat but there are still a few who rent so we’re hoping that if the basement needs to be fumigated or something that we can have them sort it, seeing as he is THEIR tennant and it wasn’t any of us who caused this.
I’m calling them today to let them know of our troubles with him lately and find out what they plan to do about him, his garbage and the little critters it’s apparently caused us to have…. more later.
Oh Tammy! How sad! You’re working so hard to get your place fixed up just right, and your neighbor is trying his hardest to make your home life miserable! I hope he gets what is coming to him soon…
