This morning Xander and I went back to the walking track and I remembered to take my camera. We did the full track again and it didn’t seem nearly as long as it did the first time.
After 30 minutes of hard walking I was beet red, as usual. I’m hoping one day I’ll be able to exercise without looking like I just spent 6 hours in the sun. I have my doubts though because my mother gets really red too, even after losing all her weight.
I also get red like this when I’m nervous, upset, when I cry or if I’m angry. It’s totally bizarre!
The pic reminded me of how badly I need to deal with my eyebrows. They just have no shape to them at all and I hate the scar that was left on my right eyebrow from the piercing that migrated out ages ago. I’ll be damned if I can find any tweezers in this house though. They are like the house version of socks and the dryer… they come in the house, use them once and they disappear, without fail. Anyway enough about my brows.
My two darling boys come with me for my walks, both enjoying the fresh air and exercise. My husband is so supportive and helpful with all of this.
There are tons of exercise stations along the way. This is one that you hang from and cross using just your hands. I think my arms would come out of their sockets if I tried that at this point. Maybe in a few months.
I was passed by quite a few joggers, but that’s one thing I love about this place. I’m more comfortable exercising there than on the street because the only people who are going to see me there are there to exercise too. I’m not likely to have to pass by any 17 year old 95 pound blonds on their way to the mall for new nailpolish.
There are small groups as well that go there to train. I think these people were training for some kind of marathon or something. Some of them were in like, their 60’s, and were more fit than I have been in my entire life.
The best part is having our car (the silver one) to go to when we are finished. The air conditioning feels fantastic and I’m actually cooled down by the time we get home. I’m no less smelly though, as my husband commented on how ‘fragrant’ I was as I was stripping off to get in the shower. I was so proud to be stinky!
Hi Tammy
Great website you have going here. I’m very impressed. You have done an amazing job. Have you ever thought of writing a book? with your skill with words, and your dad’a comedic flair I think you could write a darn good Shopaholic type book. Maybe on your adventures as an expat.
I definitely go along with Shirley Ann and Kate regarding the Rosacea theory. It tends to be prevalent in our Celtic race and there does appear to be a familial link. You mention your mom has it. Well, I think your dad does too, I do, as do others on this side of your family . Sorry kid, you didn’t have much of a chance.
Love ya’

i found your site thru staci & verypink. i love you blog!
I’ll second the rosacea theory, i have the same problem with flushing/redness. (the only time it doesn’t happen is when i’m on the pill lol.)
Ah! What a great trail! We have a lot of similar areas in Seattle – always so nice to go for a walk or a bike ride in such a relaxing environment!
Trails like that are great.
Congrats on getting out there and walking! Take a look into Rosacea if you haven’t already. I too get it from my Mom’s side of the family, redness is just the tip of the iceberg in problems it can cause… Always something to keep us on our toes!
