Leaving Our Mark on Lake Salagou

This is a photo I took of Lake Salagou back in 2010 on our previous visit to the south of France.  We had visited for the day with my mother-in-law and went for a lovely drive around the area.  When we saw her this year we decided to visit again.  I didn’t take a lot of photos around the lake because I’ve been there a few times already and done that, but there is something we did that we’ve never done before.  We have never left our mark on the lake, like so many others before us have…

All around the lake are these reddish colored hills covered in names, initials,  and comments.  People pick up small stones and write whatever they feel like writing in the hills.  There are hundreds of names, a lot of so and so loves so and so type of messages.  It’s such a cool idea!

We decided that we would put our name in the hills too!  We decided to put Xammy (for Xander and Tammy), the same as we left on the Lock of Love!

Now anyone who visits Lake Salagou will know we were there.  Xammy was here, July 2011!
