Every evening before dinner my father and I used to watch Three’s Company. I loved that show! If it was on TV today I’m sure it would still be one of my favorites.. but sadly the Netherlands has never heard of it. That’s one show that will never end up in the bargain bin so we’ll never see it here. John Ritter played a character called Jack Tripper, who was my favorite character of all.
I’m petsitting in Den Haag again for a couple I’ve never sat for before. They have a dog that is a mix of the same breed as Gus and Ike and some other unknown breed. Easiest dog to take care of, ever! Her name is Ripley and she’s great.. seriously, all she does is sleep. I carry her big sleepy pillow around the house with me and she curls up and sleeps on it. She has the weirdest harness/collar thing for walking though. Took ages to figure out how it goes on properly. It’s got this snap on collar with these rubber things that go around her front legs and all these other contraptions. I must say though, once it’s on it really works for keeping her under control when walking her.
I was watching 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter on TV, which is what reminded me of John Ritter. Before he died he played the dad on that show. Whenever I look at him though, I still see Jack Tripper.
Xander has been experimenting with curry while I’ve been gone. I guess it keeps him busy while I’m not home, since he has to cook for himself and all. I get the feeling the tongue is going to be burned out of my head when I get home.
The guy who is going to renovate our bathroom came by on Saturday before I left for Den Haag to take some measurements and make some plans. He will be coming again this coming Saturday after I get back and we’ll go pick out the tiles and discuss what we want in more detail. It’s exciting and scary at the same time, this will be the first serious renovation we’ve done in the house since we bought it. I hope it doesn’t turn out to cost more than we thought or go wrong somehow… but I love thinking about the end result. We haven’t done a single thing to the bathroom since we moved in five years ago, and the guy who lived there before us had yellow tiles up to 3/4 up the wall.. the rest of the wall and the ceiling are orange! Ugh! I’m thinking of doing all white with a touch of either blue or yellow.. maybe another color depending on what I see when we go shopping.
I took a few pictures of our new furniture pieces we bought for storage and well, just to make the place look a bit better. You can see them here:

I still need to get a proper light for the livingroom ceiling. At the moment I have a little stained glass version of Cape Breton Island hanging from a hook. hehe
Still undecided about what I want to do with the floor. A lot of people here in NL just have tiles on their floor and put down mats here and there, a lot of others put down that “Klik Laminaat” which is the DIY wooden floors that click together. I’d like to put the wooden floors in but it would be a few hundred euros and our budget is a bit tight, I’d probably rather put that money into the kitchen as we may not have much left after getting the bathroom done. Plus, if I’m going to put wood floors down I’d rather put them in the bedrooms and get rid of that mangy carpet.
Ewww.. the dog just farted. I like her a little less now… just a little. Stinkyass..
