I was in North Sydney (my home town) and met up with some friends up by the Clansman Motel. We all had bicycles and were going to go for a ride. It was me, a girl, another girl and her boyfriend. I don’t know who they were but in my dream I knew them, but not very well.
We were going riding and the guy lead us down to the highway. I remember falling off my bike because we had to ride on the side in the gravel. Also riding by water and a fish jumping out of the water and biting onto my foot. It eventually fell off. One of the girls decided to go fishing and used my gum and a long string of dental floss out of her bag. When she got a bite she pulled the line so hard the fish came back and hit her in the stomach and she wasn’t very happy. When I looked the fish was mall, not even 6 inches long, and I teased about having it for dinner tonight.
I remember it was dark suddenly, as if we had been biking all day. I stopped to turn on the lights on my bike.
The guy lead us up from the highway into these cities I’ve never seen before with all kinds of covered hallways and stairs. They all went up a ramp and around a corner and when I got around the corner they were gone. A young black boy who was hanging around with his friends told me they went “that way” and pointed around the corner. I got on my bike and went around the corner, barely stopping in time before going down a huge flight of stairs. I gave the kid a sour look and then heard my friends yelling from a different direction.
I passed by a group of older guys, they were black too. One of them looked at me in that “I dig you” kind of way. I found my way out of the tunnel behind the others and the guy was right behind me. He grabbed me by the back of my jacket and stopped me and the bike. He kept a grip on it while he came around and was talking into my face. He told me he liked me and that he wanted me to stay there with him. He was talking to his friends who were nearby asking them if they think I should stay. He was sort of attractive I guess but he had weird teeth. It was like they were all joined at the sides and there was a gap missing out of the front. Not whole teeth missing but just a strip missing across the middle of his front teeth. The top of his teeth were there and so were the bottoms, but a thin piece across the middle was missing. I remember him telling me I had gold in my eyes. He was asking me to kiss him and I kept telling him I had to catch up to my friends. He finally let me go.
When I went into the tunnel to meet the others my aunt Pearly was standing there. She started asking me how much it would cost to buy a car. I didn’t know what she was talking about so I just told her a low figure that would be enough to buy a car. I biked next to her while she walked over to this water along the side of the highway with a line of boats in it. We got in and my father was in there. He and Pearly sat behind me and he told me Pearly wants to buy me a car. I was really excited inside but didn’t want to just say yes because I knew I wouldn’t be staying there, that at some point I’d be going back to Holland. I tried to explain and dad said that she was going to give me money to buy a car there, that’s when I got really excited.
Then suddenly I was on a bus with my mother. We were talking about someone who was addicted to drugs. The black guy who stopped me on the bike was sitting across from us and we were talking to him. Apparently the drug addict we were talking about was a good friend of mine. She went to this guy looking for drugs, because he sells them. He was telling us all the things she wanted to buy. My mother explained that the girl was now in a really nice rehab clinic and that this guy talked her into going. I was surprised because I figured all drug dealers just wanted the money, and found myself thinking this guy was a good drug dealer (if any such thing exists) that monitors how much his customers use or something.
I saw the guy in a new light somehow and was so happy that he helped my friend. I remember telling him that I wanted to kiss him (Just a friendly thankful kiss) and thinking what a change that was from how I felt when I first met him.
