A while back my friend Heather was raving on about this new movie she got that she was head over heels in love with. She told me how she anxiously awaited the arrival of the DVD and how she’s watched it almost every night since it arrived. Umm, yeah. I am a total TV and movie freak but even I have my limits. I couldn’t see how any movie would really be that good, so I asked to borrow it from her.
Turns out she wasn’t kidding because I had possession of the DVD for only 3-4 days, of which she asked me repeatedly if I was finished with it yet so she could get it back. She really did mean business! So on Tuesday morning, partly out of curiosity and partly out of wanting to give it back before she had a stroke, I checked it out.
WOW – What a movie!!!!
It’s called Keinohrhasen, which is German for “Rabbit Without Ears”, and it is the best romantic comedy I remember seeing in a very long time. Possibly ever. Yeah, ever. It really is that good. Even though I had to read the entire thing, as it is a German movie, I didn’t care. I was so enthralled I didn’t even notice.
The plot was great, the actors were fantastic (and hot, oh my word, Til Schweiger is a god among men), it was funny, it was sad and I just loved it. I laughed my ass off, I sobbed my eyes out and just when I thought I was ok, my husband asked me what the movie was about – and I laughed so hard I cried.
I wish I had a really good trailer to show, but apparently only the German version is available on YouTube. I searched high and low and was able to find this small one with English subtitles.
If you’ve never listened to me before, listen to me now and get this movie. It’s so worth it.
I reckon it is HARES without ears – afaik the german word for rabbit is kaninchen (like konijn), hasen sounds like hares to me

The film is from 2007 I think, so you’d probably have to order it from somewhere. Since it’s a German movie it’s not as widely distributed as the more popular Hollywood films
No! I’m gutted, can’t find the movie, even at our so called specialist store that has everything :( We just had a film festival and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t playing there either, I’ll keep checking the schedules every time there’s a festival that might be playing it.
