Well the weekend is over and it was awesome! Friday night we went to my dad’s cousin Brenda’s place.. it was just the family and we had some pizza and a few drinks. Her daughter Leanne is a few years younger than me and got married while I was away (in August) so I missed it. We watched the video then watched another old video from the summer of 1995, one of the summers I spent most of my time lazing around their pool.It was so great to see them again, we had some really good laughs and the memories that came flooding back when I saw the videos .. gah! At one point my nana came on the screen and it took every bit of strenth I had not to burst into tears. I saw my old friend Peggi there hanging out at the pool with me and thought MAN I haven’t emailed her in months. So I did when I got home and have heard back. She’s in freakin’ JAPAN! She said she’s a lot like me as far as living away from Canada goes.. she is learning the little bits of language she needs to get by but otherwise she can’t make herself really get into it. Apparently someone she spoke to at the language school she works at over there said that Canadians are the worst for learning languages when they move to foreign countries. So I will blame it on where I come from rather than what I do (or don’t) do!
Saturday afternoon Kathy and Dave (Sis and fiance) came to pick us up and we went into Sydney to see Troy. It was a really good movie even thought it’s pretty historically incorrect. The fight scenes were good and the story itself was great. Now, I am not a big Brad Pitt fan. I thought he was faggy in Legends of the Fall, but I did like him in Fight Club. Watching him in this movie made me nearly slip off my seat.. I mean could he BE any hotter in this movie?! YUM! On the other hand, Orlando Bloom doesn’t really get the sexiness factor in this movie. He plays a young prince who is immature and stupid. His character really annoyed me in this movie because the entire thing happened because of his greed, and when he had the chance to make up for it he went grovelling to his brother’s feet so he could fight his battle for him. All the great characters in this movie died because of that one horny little idiot.
Saturday night we had a group of people over from my mother’s side of the family. Her brothers, my sister and her fiance, cousins and a few of my dad’s friends from the northside. We drank way too much and I sang very badly way way too much! My dad and some of the other guys were playing their guitars a lot and we were singing loads of old songs. Lots of them I didn’t even know but I sang anyway.. My darling husband told me I’m a totally crap singer. The nerve!
I’m going to go put some of the pics I took on the pictures page so have a look there if you want to see some. I may not get around to it until tomorrow though. I have laundry that needs to be done.
