It’s a beautiful day in the Netherlands today. It’s 25 degrees and the sun is shining.. You’d be able to see the weather here on my website if that damn Weather Pixie was working. I put it on my site ages ago, it was from www.weatherpixie.com, which appears to just be gone. Just like that.. *poof* I don’t know what’s going on but I hope it comes back because I can’t find any other cool weather thing like it for my site.Merijn (Xander’s brother) is back with us after spending a few days in Amsterdam visiting friends. He’s having fun messing around with the laptop Xander gave him. He’s cooking dinner tonight, which I can’t wait for. He makes this chicken dish, I’m not sure what it’s called but I really like it a lot and my belly is growling like hell I’m so hungry.
This morning Xander and I biked to the bike shop to return the basket thing we bought yesterday and get a new one. We also bought a new seat which was so much more comfy. It’s more puffy and wider and soooo much easier on my ass. We got a pump too and pumped my tires up a bit more. The ride home was much better! Biking for 20 minutes seems like a much bigger workout than walking for 30. I feel the workout a lot more in my legs, my heart pumps a lot harder and god knows I sweat more. Although I was walking at 5:30am when it was much cooler. When I’ve been biking it was later in the day when the sun was blaring. I think I even have a little mini tan! I figure by the fall I’ll be able to go on some really nice long bike rides with Xander.
Oh god, one thing I’ve noticed when I’m riding my bike (other than the fact that I feel like I’m gonna fall off every time I turn) is that my shorts RIDE! GAH!! I’m riding along with my shorts in a bundle at my crotch and my chubby little thighs bared for all to see. Aaaah.. good times!
Yesterday when Xander and I went to get the groceries we bought these pastry things and were sitting on the curb in the sun eating them. I was fussing with my clothes, tugging my t-shirt here and there until I was satisfied that it was sitting in a way that didn’t make me feel too bulgy. This lady rode by on her bike with a little girl on the back. The girl was probably about five or so, she had on this cute little shorts and tank top set. She had her hair in pigtails and was sitting back on the back of the bike, her pigtails were blowing in the breeze and she didn’t have a care in the world. I sat there quietly for a while thinking about what it was like to be a kid. How fun and interesting life was when we never worried about anything. We just went out with our friends, never cared how our clothes fit or how they looked. As long as nothing hurt it was fine. It would be so nice to be that carefree again. It’s weird to think that when I’m 50 or 60 I’ll look back at these years and wish to be in this point in life again. Life sure is weird…
Give me an old cool bicycle, and I’ll ride around the city for days.
