I have a PERIOD KEY!
………………………………………..
No more cutting and pasting! It’s wonderful! How do I have a new period key? It’s one of many new keys on my NEW LAPTOP!
I know, this story just keeps getting better and better doesn’t it?
It’s a Sony Vaio FJ Series and the things I love about it include:
- The glossy screen that can be seen from any angle. It’s a world of difference from my old laptop, everything looks so crisp and colors really pop.
- It has a built in webcam, like built right into the screen (you can see it on the photo, the strip just above the screen). I’ve already been using it loads… showing my mother my new clothes, chatting and giving friends tours of our house.
- How sleek and cool it looks.
- It has a 100 gig HD where my old one only had 30 gigs.
- It has a dvd burner.
- How totally silent it is compared to my old one, which often sounded like it was churning butter.
- It doesn’t seem to get hot AT ALL. Slightly warm at the most! My old laptop used to get so hot I couldn’t use it because it hurt my fingertips to use the touchpad.
Xander and I were talking about what we need to do with the money we’ve gotten back from our taxes. One of the things that is high on our list of to-do’s is to renovate our kitchen, another thing was to sort out or computers situation, and another is random stuff around the house like getting the wood floors in the bedrooms and other bits. The kitchen is the most expensive, and we figure we should probably take some more time to plan it and save to make sure we can do what we really want with it. Since I have given up gaming, Xander has taken over my desktop. This is a really nice, fast, well kitted machine which is perfect for gaming. His gaming computer was rather crap and was taking up major space in my diningroom so I was happy to be rid of it.
This left me with just my laptop. The evil laptop from hell. The laptop that hates me. Those of you reading this who have ever spoken to me on MSN or gamed with me will remember all to well how often that laptop crashes and just generally acts disgruntled with me. We were fairly certain that it didn’t have long left to live, so we decided that we’ll get me a new laptop. WOOT!!
Saturday we were coming home from the city center after buying the laptop, and a man sitting across from us on the tram had his dog with him.
His name was Spikey and he was HUMUNGOUS! I asked the guy what breed he was, I didn’t understand him and asked him again. I didn’t catch it that time either and didn’t want to ask him to repeat himself again, so I have no idea what breed of dog it is. He is just over a year old though and will apparently still grow taller and get approximately 30 kilos heavier. Wow, I wouldn’t want to be on the other end of his leash!
We almost burned our house down this past weekend. For days we were smelling something weird in the kitchen and I thought it was coming from something in the garbage or something in the fridge. After checking and cleaning the smell was still there. When we had no hot water to shower with on Sunday morning we checked our water heater and the knob for the timer wouldn’t turn… strange. Xander took the cover off to see what was going on inside.
The reason the knob wouldn’t turn was because the casing of the timer had melted and made it unable to move. It would seem that at some point within the few days before us finding it our water heater timer caught on fire and burned itself out. I guess the case around it was flame retardant or something because it didn’t spread. Scary shit though, if it wasn’t we could have come home on Saturday to find our entire kitchen gutted! Just goes to show how close you can be to a house fire without even know it! We smelled it for at least 2 days before figuring out what was happening.
I got my photo album working here on my site, slideshows and all! I’m pretty chuffed!
We are having another Hitlergolf at the moment! Xander was wrong in my previous blog though, it’s 5 days with temps over 25 of which at least 3 days have to have a temp of over 30. It’s 32 degrees here now.
Congrats on the new GADGET! Aren’t new gadgets great?!? I can live without a lot of things, but not a good computer. I’m surprised you lasted this long.
I love my Superdrive (CD/DVD player/burner).
Computer, next a car, and a kitchen renos — sounds like things are really looking up!
After paying a hefty vet bill, I can only imagine what it would be with a dog that size. Hugh’s hyperthyroid pills alone were $66.
YEAH for ……. keys!!
That is a cute and WAY BIG dog.
You. are. so. frakking. lucky. *jealous* Vaios are sweet! I know you’re loving it. I mean, with the period key and all, who could ask for anything more?! ^~
In response to your comment, I do have a DVD burner and use it quite often, but there are some old movies that don’t have any active seeds. Plus, I like the shiny box, I’m just picky like that XD The one thing I do make use of my burner with would definitely have to be TV shows. Like I can afford all those box sets! Especially Buffy, I wanted the chosen collection (which is now unavailable) but the cheapest I saw it was like.. $175?! Now it’s $250! *dies* Sure, it took 14 DVDs to burn, but I got Seasons 1-7 XDDD
Yeah, it scares me to think of what -could- have happened!
Good thing you noticed it and found it in time or the heater could of done more damage than it did.
