A while back I did a post titled Where Were You 10 Years Ago? after finding my old diary. Well… I found it again and was flipping through it.
Where was I 10 years ago? Lets see… Here is what I wrote:

** BEST DAY OF SUMMER ’96 **
Oh my god!!! Today was the most unbelievable day!! After all the times my tripes to Halifax have been cancelled, today has finally made up for it. *sigh*
I met the most incredible guy. Me and Peg picked up Paul Dyck and Brian Sharp hitchhiking (mom and dad would kill me!) on the way to Ingonish and we ended up spending the whole day together. We went to Mary Ann Falls, Black Brook, whale watching from the top of smokey mountain and from the fliffs by the monstary we were at.
That Brian guy was unbelievable. I was lushing over him all day. He got our #’s and addresses. I hope he remembers me and writes.
OH yeah, we went to the circus too and Peg was a pain in the ass cuz all she could think about was going to the movies with Terry.
I’ve been talking to Brad a few times. Him and Heather are going over to PEI again next month and I KNOW I will never see him here.
I remember that day so clearly, me and Peggi driving along on our way to Ingonish and we see two guys on the side of the road. One tan skinned boy with his long brown hair tied back under a bandana and a skinny sidekick with a head full of red curls. The nice kind of curls though, the ones that turn into ringlets if you let them grow long enough… not the brillo pad curls.
They were standing on the side of the road with nothing but backpacks and a giant bongo drum. How could we not pick them up, we were 18 and they were cute! I’m glad we did though, because we had an absolutely fabulous time. It was also the only time in my life I was ever in a Buddist monestary. It was so peaceful there… I could have sat on the edge of the cliff all day and watched the whales.
I never did hear from that Brian guy again, but I don’t think I ever really expected to. Looking back I think that’s what made it such a great day, meeting these two strangers and spending a really fun day together, and that was all.
I took a photo of them that day, which I keep in my dairy to this day. I wonder where they are now and what has ever become of them… perhaps one day they’ll google their names and find this entry and remember us too.
As for the additions I made to the list of things I want to do before I die (in the post I linked at the beginning of this one)… I’ve not done any of them. Yet.
Penny – I totally understand what you mean. Especially with the older members of my family. In the last 10 years I’ve lost some really important people in my life and the generations have stepped up. My parents are now the older generation, I am what my parents were, and now my generation are having the kids, that we once were. It’s so bizarre.
I’ve also lost touch with a lot of friends I wish I hadn’t.
Lynn – You rule girl! Thanks :D
I clicked you! ;)
Ten years ago.. well let’s see. I had been out of HS for about 2 years and was a manager at Jack in the box. Finally figuring out that wasn’t what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, so I enrolled part time at the local college. I was living with my ex BF at the time, thought being an adult was cool, and racking up charges on my newly acquired Target and Mervyn’s card.
It’s seems strange so much time has passed and yet most of the people in my life at that time are no longer around.
I guess that’s just how it goes.
Oh yeah… rub it in, youngster! :P
ten years ago i was nine years old… i cant really remember back then.
