Best Friends Forever

That’s what I once told a boy I loved…

I noticed some videos on YouTube today from someone called Lonleygirl15 and her friend Danielbeast.

It would seem that this girl, LG15, has pretty strict parents. She appears to spend a lot of time in her room, is homeschooled and isn’t allowed to do much. She has a good friend named Daniel who is around a lot… and they make videos. I think it’s her version of a blog or something. Actually, I think this whole video blog thing is a lot bigger than I know, seeing as I have only become aware of it today.

At first I thought what I think every time I see something with people their age… “UGH, Teenagers!”. Then I noticed a strange dynamic between these two and it made me think back to when I was younger and my best friend was a boy. His name was Aaron J… we met when we were 12 and remained good friends for years, until he moved away.

He was weird… which anyone was in my small town if they didn’t wear jeans and a baseball hat.Â? He never cared though, the more they turned their nose up at him, the more outrageous he became.

He had imagination, he was fun and I always learned something new when I was around him.

My girl friends all loved him and he cycled through them regularly, as young teenage boys do. My guy friends all hated him and called him gay, even though he was getting all the girls they weren’t. Which is probably the real reason they hated him.

Every now and then we’d think we had a crush on each other, spend a little bit of time kissing and then realize it was more fun to kiss other people and then gossip to each other about it.

Aaron J. was the first friend I had who urged me to be unique. He taught me that what other people think doesn’t matter, as long as you are having fun and being true to yourself. Sometimes I think about him now and wish he was still around to remind me.

LG15 and Danielbeast are incredibly popular on YouTube, their videos are cute and I think there may possibly be a budding romance there… Hopefully their friendship won’t fade overtime and become seperated by distance like Aaron and I allowed ours to be.

Here’s my favorite video of them together… If you’re growing up and missing your childhood, or have an old friend you miss, perhaps this will take you down memory lane too.

Where are you, Aaron J? I miss you!

  1. LG is addictive though. LOL I decided to check it out when I read your blog, can’t believe I got sucked into watching a half dozen or so videos lol.
But I know what you mean, I had a best friend like that too when I was younger, we grew apart when I moved to NL and were never the same when I came back. Ah well
