It was a sad day when I had to remove my acrylic nails. I wasn’t sure what was waiting for me underneath as the first set I had put on was at an “Asian Nail Farm” where they drilled the bejesus out of my nails.
I spent hours soaking them in acetone, I went through an entire bottle! My nail technician told me it was because I had the tinfoil the wrong way around, that I should have had the shiny side on the inside. Bugger.
When the nails came off my nail beds were a mess. There was a visible difference between where the Asian lady had drilled down and where Ellen (the lady I went to for the rest of my time with acrylics) worked on them. There was no damage at all lower on my nail bed where Ellen did the work, but the top was thin, scratched and red. Ouch.
There was no way I could leave my nails like that, so I did a quick manicure to cover them up using Etos Nr. 33 purple polish and a sticker from the Broadway Diva collection. The indent where the nail damage started was still clearly visible but at least I could cover it up a bit.
This was the day that I realized how much I enjoy doing my own nails! There was no stopping me then…
