Idol Thoughts

I just finished watching this week’s performances for American Idol.   Eish, does this year suck.

Jordin did great, I’m actually starting to see her as a front runner.  Helped that I really loved the song she sang.

Melinda also did an awesome job and I love that Simon told her to drop the surprise act every time someone compliments her, because that’s the one thing that was driving me nuts about her.

Chris … look man, you’re not Justin Timberlake and you sing like a girl.  I used to like this guy but there’s something about the way he always jerks his head to the right after every line he sings.  It bugs me.

Sanjaya, what in gods name is there that can be said?  I blame Howard Stern!  There’s no way he’s actually going to win, I’m sure Nigel Lithgow would rig the voting before he’d let that happen.  So it’s just a matter of waiting for him to get voted off and HULA his way off stage.

Lakisha is normally one of my favorites but she really did murder that Carrie Underwood song.  Plus, one of my fellow Cape Bretoners (Gordie Sampson – w00t!!) won a Grammy recently for co-writing Jesus Take the Wheel so I take extra offense on his behalf to having it sung so badly.  I still like Lakisha though and think she’s going to go to the end.

Blake – UGH!!  In the beginning I really liked him because of his beat boxing and stuff but now he keeps doing the Elvis lip and giving those smoldering looks into the camera. YECH!  He should have stuck with the rapper dude thing because the Rico Suave thing is a major turn off.

Phil, well the fact that I had to just go to the AI website and see if I forgot anyone and realized I forgot this guy should tell you my impression of him.  Granted, he definitely did better this week singing country.  He STILL makes me think of Haywire from Prison Break every time I look at him with his crazy eyes though.  So there’s no way on earth I’ll ever be able to take him seriously.

Man… I remember a few seasons ago when I actually loved this show and went all out making pics and such.  Back in the Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice days.   These contestants aren’t even worth opening Photoshop for, with the exception of a few.

Today I’m off to Kinderdijk with the girls.  I’ve never been there before so I’m sure I’ll be back with loads of photos (and sore feet!).   Stay tuned.
