The Lavender Bush

I’ve come to realize that the sheer number of photos from my trip to France has caused me to set them aside to deal with them later.  I have been avoiding them, I’m an avoider, it’s what I do… I avoid.

I decided to just take them a bit at a time and post some as I go. That also helps stop me from the mega-posts with a million photos. So, I will be posting the photos in dribs and drabs as I get around to editing and uploading them!

Lavender Bush
This lavender bush was by the pool in front of my in-laws’ house.  I’d sit on their terrace every day watching the butterflies and bees flitting around in it.  They have a beautiful garden of wild flowers but for some reason this one bush in particular attracted them all.  I don’t know why, but I’m glad… it was such a lovely sight.

Butterfly
There were butterflies of all different colors, but they hardly stopped for a second.  They would flit from one area to the next, never having the decency to stop and pose for a minute.  Except this one, who hesitated before taking off, giving me my chance to snap a photo.

Bumblebee
There were so many bees as well… and normally I’m terrified of bees, but my desire to get a photo completely overcame that fear, at least this time. This one bee was so intent on what he was doing that he didn’t seem to care at all that I was there. Good thing too, because I wouldn’t have liked it very much if he had noticed me.

Seeing these photos from our trip just makes me miss the south of France even more, if that were at all possible.  It was the only time we saw any real summer weather, we even swam!  I could happily spend my days wandering around their garden taking in the nature.

Unless they ask me to help with the gardening or weeding, because I realized that of all the things I love about the south of France and visiting my in-laws, weeding is not one of them.  Just as well, because I really suck at it.

More photos to come!
