For reasons I won’t go into, I decided to test out how long it takes for my vertical labret (lip piercing) to grow over if I take it out. Basically I wanted to see if I take it out for a day or so, will I be able to get it back in.
Bad idea…
I took it out at 11am this morning and at 6pm I started getting scared and tried to put it back in.
It wouldn’t go in.
BUGGER!! What have I done? I couldn’t believe that after only a few hours my piercing had started to grow over already! I figured it was probably a bad idea, but like most bad ideas I have, I did it anyway. I’m such a moron.
I did end up getting it back in, but not without a little whimpering and eye watering. It’s tender now but it’s back in place. Now I know that taking this piercing out for a day just won’t work. If the situation ever arises that I have to not wear it somewhere, I’ll either have to let it grow over and forget about it (nooo!) or get a clear retainer piercing. I don’t quite get the retainer piercings to be honest, it’s not like you can’t still see them!
I never did try to put my tongue piercing back through because I knew I’d be too tempted to keep it if I could get it back in again. Now I know that if I ever remove the lip piercing, putting it back in won’t be an option, at least not after more than about 6 hours. Interesting…
I must have weird ‘grow-over’ skin. If my nose piercing got snagged on my pillow during the night it would be one of those eye-watering, wimpering things the next morning. The tongue never did that. The former’s gone now.
