Today is a holiday in the Netherlands so I have my honey home with me. The weather has been beautiful so we decided to take advantage and go for a bike ride.
We packed a lunch, grabbed an old duvet cover (mental note: buy picnic blanket!) and head off. We biked through Zuiderpark, where I almost died with envy for the people who had the little boat with the umbrella out in the middle of the water. Then back up around to some other areas with small man made beaches. It’s really amazing where people will swim. Most of the places I imagine being really mucky and unpleasant in the bottom. Blech.
We had the whole field to ourselves, which I doubt would be the case a few hours later. We sat and chatted for a while until we were both eager to feel the breeze of the bikes again.
We were going to do some geocaching along the way but Xander’s allergies were really starting to bother him so we headed for home. We stopped once more along the way to sit in the grass and finish our picnic while watching some race going by. It was just random luck that they went by where we were sitting and I still have no idea what it was for, but it was good entertainment while we were eating.
It makes me so incredibly happy that I am able to be more active now and do things with Xander. I enjoy when we get out together like this and as I said to him as we were riding along, it’s only going to get better from here!
