Yesterday myself, Hubby, Mom-in-Law, and Dog went exploring!
We followed the above route and saw a TON of stuff. Some were planned, others were just lucky finds. Some were so awesome I’m not going to talk about them now because they totally deserve to have more time spent on them.
The first place we stopped was no less awesome but I have to show it. I’ve been waiting to see it with my own eyes since the first time I saw it on Discovery channel. I’ve seen how it was made, why it was made, before and after photos and everything else, but now I’ve seen it for real… life sized!
This is the Millau Viaduct. One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen! It’s absolutely massive and there is on way to take a photo to reflect just how big it is. It is higher than the Eiffel Tower, if that helps put it into perspective. I had to climb this massive hill to get to the top and I was panting so hard and was cross-eyed from lack of oxygen, so I’m pretty stoked that I still managed to get some good photos of it.
The bridge was built to stop the traffic from bombarding the town of Millau, which I also got a photo of on our travels.
It’s a lovely little town ad we drove around it for ages while I tried to find a good spot to get a side view of the bridge to take photos, but I didn’t have much luck. It was nice to see the town though, it’s very… French!
After leaving Millau we drove along the Riviere du Tarn, which was stunning in many spots. It was so clear you could see every little pebble in the bottom. This spot in particular looked so inviting, but hubby and mom-in-law assured me that it was far to cold to swim in. I should have gone to check for myself though because the Canadian in me believed that there was no way that bit of water was too cold for me.
Along the way I saw this beautiful home. It’s a water mill I think, but I can’t believe anyone is actually lucky enough to live there. I mean is it possible to have a more amazing place to live? I could totally live there! Err.. as long as there was high speed internet available.
We actually passed by that place without me being able to get a photo of it, and when we went a bit ahead and looked for a place to turn around, we ended up going along this FREAKING SCARILY NARROW mountainside road up to this old eleventh century church that people have made into a home. It looked a little weird though, because they had an in ground pool behind it. Sort of spoiled the effect.
As I said, there were a few other places we saw, but I want to spend some more time on them a bit later because I have a ton of photos of them. I’m trying to squeeze in time at the laptop whenever I can to work on the photos and get them sorted out, AND blog a little… but there is so much to do and see here.
Today we are going to a big market here in Pezenas, then going to see the new house that mom-in-law bought. In the afternoon we are going to see the new apartment of bro-in-law and the we are going to check out a few more places I want to see.
Stay tuned!
Wow. Awesome photos!

What breath taking photos those are! just beautiful. I hope you have a wonderful time:o)
Yeah, that Millau Viaduct would be so neat to see. Discovery Channel shows so many interesting places.
Very nice photos. Especially the viaduct. You surely have anti-shake (or what is the correct English expression). After climbing the mountain I would not be able to take a photo which is not blurry :D
