Ages ago I decided to try a 365 Days project where you take a photo a day for 365 days, and it didn’t last long. Then in 2011 I tried it again and lasted over 100 days. I’ve decided to try it again this year, but with a twist! I may be insane but I’ve decided to try doing 365 Days of self portraits!
At first I was going to just try the ‘any old thing’ type of Project 365 but then after discussing the concept of doing self portraits with a few friends, one of them came up with a very good point. I had mentioned that I didn’t think I had the confidence and didn’t like photos of myself enough to do it, and she pointed out that a self portrait project would help me with self-acceptance. When she said that I realized she was right and decided to do it.
I would be so happy to completely the project this time, it’s my third attempt and while I don’t always have a lot of imagination for it, I like trying to come up with the ideas for it each day. I have a bad tendency to give up on things and I would really like to see this through.
Each week I will upload the photos from the previous week. This week I will be playing a bit of catch-up. Here are the past two weeks of self portraits.
Day 1: I think I have the most cuddly dog in the world.
Day 2: A lot on my mind… the tea isn’t helping.
Day 3: Hubby got me a wireless shutter release for my Sony A300 – I love it!
Day 4: Even kisses can’t distract my husband from the new James Bond movie!
Day 5: I’m a very sad elf… this is my last weekend with all my Christmas stuff. Oh well, only 353 days until next Christmas! … but who’s counting!?
Day 6:
Me being very chuffed with myself today after climbing almost 500 steps to get to the top of Dom Tower in Utrecht, The Netherlands
There was a time when I never thought I could do something like that. After losing 140 lbs and challenging myself to do things like this, I’m learning that ANYTHING is possible! :) (There will be a blog post about this!)
Day 7: Followed a recipe for sugar free blueberry jam that was quoted as making 5 jars of jam. This is what I got out of it. I don’t know what kind of crazyass miniature jars they were using!
Day 8: Tammy – MOZZIE HUNTER!
The mild temperatures in the Netherlands have brought the return of the mosquito invasion to our house. The only sure fire way to catch those suckers is with the vacuum hose. They can’t out-fly that!
Day 9: This is what my mood looks like today. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day!
Day 10: Recharging on my balcony during a rare sunny moment this morning! It was the first sunshine I’d seen in what feels like forever. I really am solar powered!
Day 11: Waiting for my 1 year checkup at my WLS clinic! (My 1 year is actually up on January 18th, there will be a blog post!)
Day 12: Quicky phone shot before leaving for a party
Day 13: Freezing my ass off waiting for the tram!
Day 14: I really am going to fold the laundry, really… I swear. Just after I finish this last page… or two.
This is a fantastic idea! Watch how creative you get! You look amazing already and this is a really good way of showing your willpower.
